Who walks into their Lexus dealer, sees the IS, and then sees the ES on sale for 500 more dollars and says "you know, I'd like to pay more for the car that is worse in every way!"?

I guess you're right.
My Jalop magical underpants are too hard to take off sometimes. I often forget most people are boring.

Good question. If I walked into my Lexus dealer I'd say 'sorry, Bob'.

I would go with the ES so I can not have to look at the UGLY IMHO IS.

I mean, we're talking about Lexus customers. More car with better MPGs is pretty much their game.

This^ Remember their demographic is 50+ yr olds who want a luxury car, but can't stomach maintenance costs higher than their old camry.

in 2003, my dad and I rolled through a Lexus dealer . they had several is and es models on the lot. I don't remember what the price difference was, but the salesman was really pushing the es, calling it the best selling and easiest to own car in the segment. He also contrasted it with the is, calling it a pure luxury car instead the luxo sport offerings everyone else was making
